Exhibition Guidelines
Christian WYSIWYG Film Festival is one of the
oldest exclusively
Christian film festivals in the world and this year we are
breaking
*all* the rules. That's why this year's film festival is called
"Suddenly." It is the first spontaneous, no-holds-barred
film
festival where every filmmaker gets an equal chance to succeed.
Attendance to this year's film festival is free of charge-
no
registration fees! Offerings will be taken after every film.
Submitting your film to this festival is also free of charge
and the
filmmaker will benefit 50% of the offering given to their
film. Below
are the Festival Exhibition Guidelines:
#1) Films can only be submitted between the
opening day of the film
festival through the final viewing day. The first film can
be
submitted on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008, starting at 9:00
AM sharp
(you can get in line as early as you desire, but doors will
not open
until 9:00 AM at the physical location of 1970 Ocean Avenue,
San
Francisco, CA 94127!)
#2) The film must be in DVD format
#3) The film must be submitted in person by
a person who has the
legal right to exhibit the film
#4) No submissions will be accepted by mail.
All films must be
delivered in person.
#5) The person submitting the film must fill
out a submission form.
These forms will be available on the outside of the building
the
entire week of the event.
#6) Since the Christian WYSIWYG Film Festival
has removed our
prescreening and judging processes before a film is shown,
all
filmmakers must fill out the submission form *including* the
rating
system so the attendees of the festival can be forewarned
if the film
contains potentially controversial materials.
#7) All films will be instantaneously judged
by a live audience. This
will be done through the following process:
EXHIBITION PROCESS
•On the 1st day of the festival on a first come,
first served basis,
the filmmaker is allowed to choose the Suddenly session slot
they
would prefer their film to be viewed.
•Film is checked to see if it is compatible
with festival equipment.
If so, it is automatically accepted into the festival.
•Each member of the audience is given an offering
envelope (per film)
which also includes a rating system to rate the film. Each
film will
receive an offering after the film is shown. 50% of the offering
goes
to the filmmaker, which they will receive at the awards banquet
held
Saturday night, November 8th, 2008.
•EVERY FEATURE FILM (AN HOUR OR MORE IN LENGTH)
MUST PASS THE
10-MINUTE "HURDLE", WHICH MEANS THE FILM IS PAUSED
AFTER THE FIRST 10
MINUTES AND AT LEAST 50% OF THE AUDIENCE MUST VOTE FOR THE
FILM TO
CONTINUE. EVERY SHORT FILM MUST PASS THE 2-MINUTE "HURDLE."
WHEN THE
FILM IS PUT ON PAUSE, IF LESS THAN 50% VOTE 'YES,' THE FILM
IS STOPPED
AND YOU'RE OUT! AN OFFERING WILL BE RECEIVED FOR EACH FILM
REGARDLESS
IF IT IS STOPPED ON CONTINUES. THE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT
IT IS THE
PURPOSE OF OUR FESTIVAL TO ENCOURAGE *EVERY* FILMMAKER TO
HONE THEIR
SKILLS.
• No film can be submitted twice.
• WYSIWYG reserves the right to reject any film
or person(s) from the festival.
• All disputes will be handled on-site by official
WYSIWYG 'Suddenly' referees.
•The audience is responsible to vote a film
past it's 2 or 1o minute
'hurdle.' They are responsible to score the film on the offering
envelope and to give an offering towards films and festival
(each
receives 50/50 split)
•No film can reserve a designated spot. All
exhibition slots are
filled in person by first come, first served basis *only.*
•The lobby of the festival theater will be opened
during the entire
festival for fellowship and sharing.
